About The Artist
Cristina Recto-Hansen has been drawing and painting for so long as she could remember as a young child. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and her works have always focused on realism and stylized depictions of nature landscapes, seascapes and fantasy art. Her favorite subjects are women and children, flowers, birds, scenes of cascading pond waters, seascapes, mythological characters, and religious art. Portraitures also come to play in her paintings and whatever else inspires her. She began painting professionally in 1989 and has participated in several formal art exhibits in Manila, Philippines and in the United States. Some of her original paintings are in collections of notable art collectors and personalities in Manila and other art enthusiasts abroad. She is now based in Arizona with her husband and daughter.
Currently, she dabbles into her paintings in between family time and work. Her preferred mediums are watercolor and oil for her art works and primarily does paintings as a professional artist, as a hobby and upon commission. And, to just add as trivia and perhaps worth mentioning, Cristina was also a former beauty titlist who represented her country, the Philippines, in the Miss Maja International Pageant , in Merida, Mexico, of which her skills as an artist took acclaim when she won an award for Talent for a painting she did in honor of the Spanish Art Master, Francisco Goya. She was also a television personality in the Philippines being a newscaster and was a host for a television program, “Manila, Manila”,that aired in Manila and on cable TV in the United States.“
